Dead Drop Studios rail shooter, Railbreak, is now available on PlayStation.
The new PS5 game delivers on its over-the-top rail shooting mechanics in its dystopian world. Players blast through a horde of rampaging zombies in solo or co-op.
Railbreak has nine heroes with their own set of tools in the battlefield. Each character has the option to wield powerful weapons imbued with elemental power. Players can stall aggressive foes with ice blasts or shock them with electricity to make them pop.
Some of the special weapons are unique to a character. For example, Korrine can use her beam-slinging katana to decimate enemies.
“With a killer variety of creatures to eviscerate across oodles of scenarios and modes, there’s no better time to hop onto the Railbreak thrill-ride!” says Julia Wolbach, co-founder of Dead Drop Studios.
The game’s challenge comes from its variety of formidable bosses. Foes like Kunoichi bring her katana to slice and dice players. The gargantuan Slab can obscure players' vision in more ways than one. Each big bad has tricks on their sleeve. Potentially ruining a player’s run.
Other encounters include ‘Glitches’. These modifiers can trigger throughout the game. It can either be a boon or a bane depending on luck. This type of mechanic adds a roguelite flavor to Railbreak’s gameplay loop.
Additionally, Railbreak launches on PlayStation consoles with six distinct game modes. Players can enjoy casual shootouts with Score Attack, Onslaught, Boss Rushes, a fully-voiced campaign, and more.
As an added bonus, the developers also included two game types. This includes the standard run and Time Korrisis. This mode brings a new ‘time limit’ twist that resembles classic rail shooters.
Railbreak is available now on PlayStation 4 and 5 for the price of $19.99. It’s also available on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
