Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the acclaimed historical RPG, is finally getting a sequel.

Warhorse Studios has officially unveiled Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The sequel to the 2018 original title is slated for release later this year.

The announcement comes after months of speculation.

Warhorse revealed the development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II in a global digital event.

Wrapped in a 13-minute video, it showcased the title and commentaries from the development team and actors. It also provided fans and players a first look into the game's progress.

Creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II promised to bring its immersive medieval world into a bigger and grander scale.

"The game is much bigger in scope... Regarding the size of the world, it's two times bigger than it was," said creative director Daniel Vavra.

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the story will also be much longer and more epic, Vavra said.

“We’ve proven the concept works, so now we can take it to another level, which is what we always wanted," he added.

The sequel will take place in 15th-century Bohemia or Central Europe. Players will once again assume the role of Henry, the determined son of a blacksmith. Picking up where the first game left off, Henry finds himself in the middle of civil war. In turn, he must chart a path of vengeance, betrayal, and self-discovery.

Warhorse teased fans and players of two brand new maps for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. One of which will be the breathtaking Bohemian Paradise, a real-world location still accessible in the Czech Republic. The game will also highlight the silver-mining town of Kuttenberg, a UNESCO World Heritage.

According to Vavra, the game's storytelling will include five hours of cutscenes, designed to immerse players in Henry's narrative.

The combat system has also been refined. Developers promised to introduce a balance between accessibility and historical accuracy. Players can also engage in realistic medieval swordplay. In addition, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will contain new ranged options. These included crossbows and early gunpowder weapons.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. / ###
