Final Fantasy XVI: Final DLC Coming in April

Final Fantasy XVI’s final DLC, The Rising Tide, will roll out on PlayStation 5 consoles this April 18. It will close the epic saga of Clive Rosfield in Square Enix’s latest mainline Final Fantasy series.

“In The Rising Tide, an unmarked letter arrives to Clive at the hideaway containing a request to rescue the Dominant of Leviathan the Lost.”

The Rising Tide DLC introduces a new story in the hidden land of Mysidia. Clive must uncover the realm's tragic history, adding depth to the expansive world. It includes new sidequests, weapons, and accessories, and raises the level cap to 60.

Accompanying the DLC is the Free Title Update (Ver. 1.30). It offers quality-of-life improvements such as a "Quick Complete" function, updated quest icons, and a new Skill Set feature:

  • Return to a quest giver immediately with the new “Quick Complete” function
  • Icon updates for important character quests
  • A new Skill Set feature which allows players to save up to 5 unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Abilities and Accessories adjusted for easier use
  • New “Custom” controller type allows for freely customizable button layouts
  • Tone correction, screen effects, and more added to Photo Mode Numerous new orchestrion rolls added

While Final Fantasy XV has been one of PlayStation's best open-world games, Final Fantasy XVI pushes for a more linear, action-oriented experience.

This latest mainline Final Fantasy title was released on June 22, 2023 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It follows the story of Clive Rosfield in his quest to uncover the realm's tragic history. It features engaging real-time combat and RPG elements.

The second in two planned post-release DLCs, The Rising Tide DLC is a noteworthy addition to the upcoming PS5 games lineup. Players can purchase it for 19.99. Alternatively, players can also get the latest DLC as part of the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass. For 24.99, players will receive The Rising Tide alongside the first paid DLC, Echoes of the Fallen.

A PC release of Final Fantasy XVI is also slated to come out ‘soon’.
